Maiden Grass, Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus', forms large clumps of gracefully arching foliage. Its dense structure provides sufficient cover when used as a peaceful privacy screen or border. This is a late blooming cultivar compared to most grasses. Copper tassels form in fall and help to set a beautiful autumn scene in the landscape. Flower heads fade to silvery white and foliage turns gold after the first frost. Maiden Grass 'Gracillimus' should be left standing throughout winter for interest and to protect the crowns. Cut back in late winter just before new growth emerges.
Dramatic, graceful shrubs for a variety of locations
While most often used as edging, maiden grass is an ornamental shrub that works in a range of areas. With its clumping growth pattern and up to 6-foot height, their slender blades and prominent plumes are popular among homeowners and landscapers alike. They grow best in full sun, but they’re adaptable to many soil types – from gardening soil to clay. Not only does maiden grass add a rich green color during the spring and summer months, but it will fade to a golden shade during fall. With blades that move in the slightest breeze, maiden grass is adds instant interest and curb appeal.
Great for beginning gardeners
Maiden grass is easy to maintain and requires very little care. This makes it not only highly suitable for those who have little experience in growing plants, but also for those who are often away from home but who still want a beautiful landscaping design. It also thrives in containers, adding visual interest to patios, porches and terraces.
Find a variety of uses for Maiden Grasses
They’re not only a simple but dramatic addition to your landscaping design, but maiden grasses can also be used to create a living “wall” for privacy. This makes them especially appealing for those who live in cities, for use along patios or even in commercial locations to create separated sitting or dining areas.
Shipping Methods
Orders will be shipped via FedEx Home Delivery.
Orders are generally in route for 2-5 business days (depending on where you live).
We are sticklers about packaging and shipping your order in a way that guarantees healthy plants upon arrival. If plants are damaged on arrival, just let us know and we'll send you new ones or offer a full refund.
All of our plants are container grown and shipped with the soil and roots fully intact. We DO NOT ship your plants bare-root. Being shipped as a containered plant greatly reduces the risk of the plant not surviving the transit to your home.
