Violet Pinwheels Phlox, also known as 'Woodland Phlox' is a hardy moss Phlox with cute, fine textured foliage. But the single feature about this plant that has everyone talking is the mass of violet-purple blooms it produces every spring. It looks like a galaxy of purple stars has suddenly appeared on the plant, and if you dead head after flowering, you should be able to get another flush or two of flowers in summer or fall. For the rest of the year, the moss-like foliage is still attractive and makes for a pleasant element in rockeries and woodland style gardens.
