DESCRIPTION
Pixie Fountain Grass (Deschampsia cespitosa Pixie Fountain) is a dwarf version of an old gardening favorite. The tufts of fine foliage are pretty on their own, but when the spikes of airy, pale gold flowers appear, this plant becomes the star of the show. When backlit, the flowers literally light up, seeming to glow with a light of their own. As the season progresses, the color changes to a rich purplish-bronze, and if left in place, continue to add interest through the winter. As a cool-season grass, it will do best in light shade in hotter climates, but it thrives in sun or light shade in the cooler areas of the country.
