DESCRIPTION

Portugal Laurel, Prunus lusitanica, is most often used as a privacy hedge, pruned into an ornamental evergreen tree or wind screen. Its tough nature can endure a wide array of harsh conditions including salt, heat and drought after establishment. Deep green foliage makes Portugal Laurel both a beautiful and multi-functional species. This variety of laurel has thinner attractive dark green glossy leaves and produces fragrant white flowers in late spring/early summer and then red/deep purple berries in the fall. Berries are NOT edible If a privacy screen isn't desired, feel free to use these tall shrubs along a sunny wall, or grouped together in a garden bed as a wonderful backdrop for lower growing shrubs and perennials.

Has a bushy growing habit reaching 25ft tall & 15ft wide

Grows in full sun/part shade in a variety of soils. Does well in harsh conditions where other plants might not survive while being more tolerant of heat, wind & draught once roots are established.

Second review

I panicked when I saw the top half of the laurels leafs wilted. I sent pictures in to customer support and they said it looked normal. But after looking it over again there's new life sprouting so I'm sure it's acclimating well now. The other plants I purchased were eaten by rabbits and deer but can't help that.
